James Harrison T-Shirt – What will you pay?

How much will you pay for an authentic James Harrison Superbowl record breaker T-Shirt?  I think this shirt may have been worn during the Super Bowl game and James made his record breaking touch down.  I think the guy that has this shirt stole it off his back while he was in the shower.

 Or possibly you’d like to bid on Aretha’s hat she recently wore at the Oh’Bama inaugeration.  She says she’s not sure if she is going to let the Smithsonian Institute have it.

 

And if nothing else you could always bid on Michael Swim Phelps’s hooka pipe.  He says he used bad judgement.  Probably thought the pipe was a bad fit for his teeth.

Or possibly my dirty socks. 

I don’t know.  I guess the Super Bowl brings out the best or worst in me.  Sigh…

Adolph Merckle – the last 5 yards

Billionaire Adolf Merckle is dead.  The family said, “Adolf Merckle lived and worked for his family and his firms.  The distress to his firms caused by the financial crisis and the related uncertainties of recent weeks, along with the helplessness of no longer being able to act, broke the passionate family businessman, and he ended his life”

Likely, there is or will be a time in everyone’s life when as the family of Adolf Merckle said, “the helplessness… broke the passionate family businessman.”  Many believers are even trained to pray for a brokeness before God out of a desire to become closer to their Creator. 

How is that brokeness on one hand drives a person to suicide and brokeness on the other drives a person to a closer relationship of God?  How can that be?

I really enjoyed the quote I recently read, “When you have been through hell, what is 5 more yards?”  For Adolph Merckle the last 5 yards are not retrievable.  He will have run his race and now for the judgement.  For you and I, we still have “the last five yards.” 

When you are broken by life, “how will you choose to run your last five yards?”  Will you run to God or run from God?  You get to choose…

Who Stirred Up the Ant Hill?

I spotted God working in hundreds of people today! Yes! Hundreds! I looked at everyone scurrying around and thought, “Holy Moly! Who stirred up the ant hill?!” Yes, it is VBS time of year.

“So let’s not allow ourselves to get fatigued doing good. At the right time we will harvest a good crop if we don’t give up, or quit. Right now, therefore, every time we get the chance, let us work for the benefit of all, starting with the people closest to us in the community of faith.” Paul

I don’t think anyone does VBS better than Grace Point. The leadership and believers at Grace Point know how to let God shine to the outside world. I can’t wait for the hundreds of children to show up tomorrow and see the wide eyes and excitement on their faces.

I’m Feeling My Age

I was thanking God for all the help He provided me this week at Grace Point Church in preparation for Easter. More than 60 people helped me in some way this week to prepare for this celebration. This got me thinking, what did I do this last week? Let me share a partial list:

• Shoveled gravel
• Shoveled asphault
• Repaired toilets
• Shampooed carpets
• Pulled ball moss
• Bagged ball moss
• Hauled garbage
• Dug up and replanted plants
• Watered plants
• Planted new flowers
• Worked on sprinkler system
• Set chairs for worship
• Ordered cleaning supplies
• Tore down play scape
• Demolished playground
• Scraped pea gravel
• Piled pea gravel for haul
• Washed cellphone in washing machine
• Moved sod to new area
• Unstopped toilets
• Removed stains on carpets
• Changed out ceiling tiles
• Made arrangements for a scissor lift
• Hauled off play scape
• Played with grand kids
• And kept Cori the main thing……

God is good! Not bad for an old man…..
