This is not a trick question…

question-markRemember when your children were young and almost everything they said was a question.  Like: Why is the sky blue?  Why is water wet?  What makes a car go?

Now remember when you first discovered Christ.  Remember all the questions?  Who is God?  How did a virgin have a Son? Is Jesus coming again?  Is talking in tongues real?

When was the last time you asked a question about your faith?  When was the last time anyone asked you a question about your faith? A while back, you say?  Why is that?

All that said to merely ask a question that has me intrigued.   What is God’s glory?

Moses said, “I beseech thee, show me thy glory.”

I’m told there are 4 elements to God’s glory.  First, God’s glory exists with no other action required.  Second, God glory is increased when He creates.  Third, God’s glory is further increased when we appreciate His creations.  Lastly, God’s glory is increased the most by our telling others of God.

BUT wait!  What is God’s glory?

Might there be value in what you think?  Might you help others by sharing what God has revealed to you? Do you know what God’s glory is? I really want to know and Moses is not around to ask.

It is the desire of my heart that God be Lord of my life. Life’s experiences have killed the old man and God is building a new creation in me. I look forward to experiencing the new man God creates in the old vessel known as Archie via "God Spots".

  1. I ask questions every single day. It is in the questioning that I have found God, not in the answers. I have found Him in the very mystery where there is no clear answer!

  2. whatchamacalit, thank you for your quick response. I too, believe in the power of asking questions. Isn’t it exciting when God chooses to reveal mysteries of our faith. I’m thinking God may have revealed what His glory is to someone and I’d love to hear what it was He revealed. 🙂

  3. The glory of God is the rightful , truthful character, which includes the rightful worship of God, the full predestination of God’s revelation of himself to us .. and the most simplest, honest way to define a Bible word is to read all the verses where it is used in the Bible..

Do see we beheld his glory.. (John 1:14 KJV) And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

(Mat 6:29 KJV) And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

(Mat 19:28 KJV) And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

(Mat 25:31 KJV) When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

(Luke 9:32 KJV) But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

(Luke 24:26 KJV) Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

(John 2:11 KJV) This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

(John 7:18 KJV) He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

(John 12:41 KJV) These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

(Rom 3:7 KJV) For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

(Rom 9:23 KJV) And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

(Eph 1:12 KJV) That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

(Eph 1:14 KJV) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

    (Eph 3:16 KJV) That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

    (Heb 1:3 KJV) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

(1 Pet 4:13 KJV) But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

(Jude 1:24 KJV) Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

(Rev 18:1 KJV) And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.

  4. When was the last time you asked a question about your faith?

I question everyhting I hear and say.. including what I should continually do too..

Plus I refined all my Christian doctrines based on what I know the Bible has said and not on what others have said.

But I daily seek to do not my will but God’s too.

  5. My head and heart are often bogged down by heavy doctrine and I have studied *plenty* of it, but when I look out the window and see a beautiful bird at my bird feeder I feel there is a miracle right before me and my heart is warmed.

  6. Thx, whatchmacalit. Just to think about awesome power of faith being so simple even a child can understand is mind blowing. Thanks for pointing out the simplicity of beauty. As for glory…

I desire to see my faith increase. I desire to see God’s glory manifested in a manner that even I can understand. I’m not looking for Sunday School answers. I am looking for face in the cleft of rock with God’s hand shielding me from the brilliance of His backside.

Is that too much to ask? Sadly, some might think so.

  7. There is nothing too much to ask, I think. God has given us minds that can reach far into the universe which long to understand more and more and on so many levels. Frankly, I often find God in the strangest places, like after reading an amazing book on unraveling the human genome called The Language of God by Francis Collins. Each of us will seek and find God in our own way, I personally don’t think there is a one size fits all. I applaud you for continuing to dig and to publicly keep asking.

  8. Thank you for encouragement whatchamacalit. I like your thought, “There is nothing too much to ask,…” . I am embracing the thoughts of Spurgeon,

“Make your petitions longer and longer. Ask for ten, and if God gives them, then for a thousand, and keep going on until at last you will positively get faith enough to ask, if it were proper, as great a favor as Moses did—”I beseech thee, show me thy glory.””

I wonder if Spurgeon saw God’s glory in this context?
