I admit the question is a bit odd. “Have you ever searched for a dead body?”
When I was a young man, I was at a lake when everyone started running around on the shore crazy-like. It turns out they had a reason to. A boy was missing and suspected of having drowned somewhere close to shore.
They were putting a search line together to try and find the boy. Everyone stretched out close together in a line and entered the water. The leader was hoping we would stumble upon the boy soon enough to save him.
I didn’t know the boy and I really had conflicting emotions. I hoped with all my heart someone would find the boy, but I also hoped with all my heart I wouldn’t be the one to stumble on the body.
I think we as Christians often find ourselves obligated to do the right thing, but not really enjoying the situation we find ourselves in. It all boils down to obedience…
