“If the ocean were grace, I’m drowning.” ~ Greg Coplen

Sunday, I met with a large group of other believers (or not) and worshiped in song led by an astonishing talented artist, Greg Coplen.  You might think about inviting him to your gathering as well.  I don't know if he wrote the song or even the title but a phrase really captured me.  The song said, "If the ocean were grace, I'm drowning." The thought speaks strongly to the immense love God has for you and I.

In the Bible, Peter speaks of the struggle life is as a believer. His speaks frankly that life is tough, but there is hope.

Wherein you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been put to grief in various trials, that the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even though it is tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ— whom not having known you love; in whom, though now you don’t see him, yet believing, you rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory— receiving the result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Consider the boldness of Peter when he says, "the proof of your faith, which is more precious than gold".  What is the proof of our faith?  I think Peter is saying that when things get really tough, we don't quit.  We keep our head up.  We keep our eyes focused on Jesus.  We choose to take one more step in faith that God truly loves us and suffers right alongside.  He never neglects us.  His Son is always reaching out and His Spirit empowers and protects.

So for today, believe that God is alive and well.  Look for those God Spots and don't forget to say, "Hey bud!  Want to live forever?"

It is the desire of my heart that God be Lord of my life. Life’s experiences have killed the old man and God is building a new creation in me. I look forward to experiencing the new man God creates in the old vessel known as Archie via "God Spots".
