God is an engineer of circumstance, but satan is the great imitator. This creates tremendous confusion among believers because when the circumstance alone is considered, what seems good can really be quite bad.
In a simplistic fashion, suppose you are jobless and a job offer is made in some distant city. It is a good offer and will provide for your family needs. Suppose also, God is using you in a powerful way right where you are. It is easy to conclude God wants you to move as you need to provide for your family. But what if the sadistic deceiver has contrived this job offer as a manipulative means of getting you away from where God’s ministry is happening?
Fortunately as a lover of God and aligned with Christ we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to help us discern what is authentic and of God. Unfortunately, we often don’t listen because we like the looks of what the great deceiver has served up. ie. prestige, money, advancement, bigger house, etc.
Last night, I believe God engineered circumstance. I was at a wedding rehearsal dinner with friends I knew and others I did not know. I sat next to a guy and his wife who are uniquely reading material about the current movement in home churches. As this unique topic is the passion God has placed in my heart, I am confident it was a refreshing encouraging “chance” meeting engineered by God.
It was a God Spot as God allowed me to participate in an event where He was authenticating His presence. As God was at work, I am confident this wedding will be a wedding made in heaven.
