Truth in the birth of Jesus

The Birth of Jesus

The birth of Jesus took place like this. His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. Before they came to the marriage bed, Joseph discovered she was pregnant. (It was by the Holy Spirit, but he didn’t know that.)  Joseph, chagrined but noble, determined to take care of things quietly so Mary would not be disgraced.

While he was trying to figure a way out, he had a dream. God’s angel spoke in the dream: “Joseph, son of David, don’t hesitate to get married. Mary’s pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. God’s Holy Spirit has made her pregnant. She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus – ‘God saves’ – because he will save his people from their sins.”

This would bring the prophet’s embryonic sermon to full term:  Watch for this – a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son; They will name him Emmanuel (Hebrew for “God is with us”).  Then Joseph woke up. He did exactly what God’s angel commanded in the dream: He married Mary.  But he did not consummate the marriage until she had the baby. He named the baby Jesus.“~Message

Truth is the way to life.

i-am-the-truthThere is but one truth.  It is the truth of God.  Nothing can be added to it.  Nothing can be taken from it.  Truth is the I AM.  Truth is Jesus.

The craziness of mankind takes every opportunity to distort and kill truth, yet at the end of the day Truth shines bright.   Nothing and no one can extinguish the light of truth.  It is the Alpha and Omega.  It is the beginning and the end.

Choose truth.  Choose life.

From there he went all over Galilee. He used synagogues for meeting places and taught people the truth of God. God’s kingdom was his theme – that beginning right now they were under God’s government, a good government! He also healed people of their diseases and of the bad effects of their bad lives.” Matthew 4:23 MSG

Ever been inclined to stand on the street corner with a sign?

hopeless eyeswonder what it is about a street corner that attracts others to stand there in all kinds of weather holding a sign sharing their most intimate truths.  “Homeless.  Please help.” ?

I have imagined myself standing on that corner wondering what combination of circumstances would drive me to the corner.  I think most will agree it is not a simple question with simple solutions.

I’ve talked to the guy on the corner.  He has told me, life for him has not always been this way.  There was a time when he was much like you and I.  This begs the question, “What will it take to find you on the corner watching everyone drive by…”

Jesus died for us all and gave special instruction for caring for the poor, homeless, children and widows.  How will God use you this Easter authenticating what Christ did so many years, ago?
