What does it look like to be “Sold Out” for Christ? This question becomes ever present in my mind in trying to understand what it looks like on the other side of the church’s ‘Tipping Point”.
I have been reading Psalms 119 for a sequence of days and likely will continue to read it repetitively for many days in the future. I am becoming intrigued with the depth of knowledge, understanding and wisdom available in this particular chapter in David’s life. One verse in particular reads:
You, God, prescribed the right way to live; now you expect us to live it.
I believe the question of being “Sold Out” for Christ and actively participating in the Tipping Point can be resolved in Psalm 119. I hope in future blog entries to explore what God has to say about His expectations on my life and share God Spots along the way. I hope and trust you will be a participant in the journey. There are at least 3 ways we can choose to share in each others lives.
- Lurk – be encouraged to just passively track what’s happening on my quest for truth by reading blog entries and other’s comments
- Actively participate by posting comments. You don’t have to agree with me, just have a similar passion chasing after God
- Tell me you are interested in meeting on a regular basis and actively, aggressively chase after God at all costs!
Participating in a “Sold Out” life group actively chasing God will only appeal to a few. Maybe you are one of the few? Pray and seek God. Let me know what you think about the concept of starting a Life Group of Sold Out believers.
Cora and I attended the Grace Point Advance Retreat for church workers. Dave Galbraith challenged us to identify what hinders God from doing his best work in us and take it to Jesus. God really made it clear to me that my low self esteem is keeping me from being as effective as He wants. I pray for God to continue to build me into the new creation He desires. I feel like I am in ‘Basic Training’, again. I was torn down and now Christ is building me back up in His image. I am excited to know that God cares and He has a future designed for me in service to Him.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us“. Hebrews 12:1
“This is totally from God. We have no say in the matter, either yes or no. Rebekah is yours: Take her and go; let her be the wife of your master’s son, as God has made plain.” Laban and Bethuel
Isn’t is awesome you have the opportunity to know that you know that God has spoken. There is no struggle to discern God’s will and whether He has spoken, when it comes straight from the Word. The validity of God’s Word is not determined by your agreement. It’s kinda like the saying, when EF Hutton speaks, everyone listens.
Years back, I had the opportunity to spend the day, ‘one-on-one’ with Mr. Ned Patterson, the son-in-law to EF Hutton and senior VP in Allen & Company, NYC. When I received the invitation, I didn’t have to wonder. God made the adventure plain. I pray God will make your adventures in following Him, equally plain.
